How to Cancel Squarespace: A Simple Step-by-Step Guide

How to Cancel Squarespace

Don’t get me wrong, Squarespace is awesome! However, the time may come when you want to delete your account. Perhaps your business is closing, or you want to move to a new eCommerce platform.

If you’re wondering how to delete your Squarespace website, there are two ways you can do this:

Option 1: Cancelling your Squarespace plan

This option takes your website offline straightaway.

Step 1

Go to Settings and choose Billing. Under the subscriptions heading, select Website or Commerce, depending on the Squarespace plan you are on.

Choose Cancel website subscription. Choose a reason for cancelling and click Continue.

Squarespace will then show you a list of any other active subscriptions you have, for example, your domain name or member areas. You’ll need to cancel these subscriptions separately. Click Continue.

Option 2: Disabling auto-renew

This cancels your Squarespace subscription at the end of your billing cycle, which will be monthly or annually, depending on how you pay for Squarespace.

Step 1

The first step is the same as cancelling your Squarespace subscription outright. Go to Settings and choose Billing & Account. Click Billing, and under the subscriptions heading, choose Website or Commerce, depending on the Squarespace plan you are on.

Step 2

Got to the bottom of the menu. Under Cancel Website Subscription, you’ll see a check box that says Renew Automatically. Uncheck it.

A pop up might ask if you’re sure you want to disable auto-renew and will tell you when your Squarespace subscription will end. Click Confirm. You can recheck the box and enable auto-renew if you change your mind before your billing cycle ends.
