How to Check Squarespace Version in 10 Seconds (2024 Update)

How to Find Out Your Squarespace Version

There are currently two versions of Squarespace available: 7.0 and 7.1.

It’s important to know which one you’re using, as this will affect the functionality available to you.

The good news is that it’s super easy to check which version of Squarespace your site is on.

So, if you’re asking the question: ‘How do I know if I have Squarespace 7.0 or 7.1?’ - here’s how to find out in ten seconds flat!

Here’s how to check the Squarespace version you have:

  1. Just log in to your website and click on Website.

  2. In the Pages panel, scroll down to the bottom, and it will say which version of Squarespace you’re on.

That’s all there is to it. Told you it was easy!

Can you convert from Squarespace 7.0 to Squarespace 7.1?

Yes you can!

In the past if you were on Squarespace version 7.0 and wanted to upgrade to 7.1 you had to set up a new website, upload your existing content and build your site again.

However in late 2023, Squarespace changed it so users could update their sites without having to start over.

Here’s how to upgrade Squarespace to 7.1.

Can you convert from Squarespace 7.1 to Squarespace 7.0?

No — you can’t ‘downgrade’ from version 7.1 to 7.0.

You’ll want to stick with Squarespace version 7.1 though, as it has a lot of additional features you can use to optimize your site.

Plus, you can take advantage of all the amazing Spark Plugin customizations on offer!

Bonus! How to check if you’re using Fluid Engine

If you’re on Squarespace version 7.1, you’ll either be using the Classic Editor or Fluid Engine on your pages. Fluid Engine is a new drag-and-drop editor that gives you extra functionality and control over the design of your website.

Fluid Engine is identifiable by its unique grid functionality, so if you see a number of grids on your page, you’re already using Fluid Engine!

If you’re using Classic Editor and want to convert individual sections to Fluid Engine, you can click EDIT and then UPGRADE in the top-left corner.

If you’ve been wondering whether you have Squarespace 7.0 or 7.1, I hope this short article has answered your questions about how to find out. If you want to know more about enhancing your website, why not check out the Spark Plugin blog?
