When it comes to designing your mega menu in Squarespace, think of it exactly like any other page or section you'd create on your website. The beauty of Squarespace's mega menu functionality is that it leverages the platform's existing section-based design system. This means you aren't constrained by rigid templates or limited customization options.
Furthermore, to enhance usability and visual appeal, consider incorporating specific design features:
Indicators: Add subtle visual cues to your menu items to clearly show which items have mega-menus. You can choose from various styles to match your aesthetic, such as a small triangle, a distinct arrow, a simple outline around the text, or a subtle plus symbol.
Shadow: Apply a soft shadow effect to your mega menu container. This subtle visual cue can help it stand out from the main content, giving it a more polished and layered appearance.
Border: Utilize borders around your mega menu. A well-placed border can help define the menu's boundaries that complements your overall site design.
