How to Transfer a Domain from Squarespace to Shopify

How to transfer your domain from Squarespace to Shopify in three steps
Step 1: Get a request transfer code
To move from one domain to another, you need a request transfer code. This verifies that you own the domain, and you intentionally want to transfer it to a new provider.
To get this code, log in to your Squarespace dashboard. Go to the domain you want to transfer and click the DOMAINS button.
Make sure the DOMAIN LOCK toggle is off. If you can’t select it, you aren’t able to transfer your domain across at this moment in time. If you have registered your domain or made changes to your registrar information, you may have to wait 60 days.
Select Request Transfer Code and enter your password if asked. Click OK.
Squarespace will email you your transfer code. This can take up to 24 hours.
Step 2: Get your DNS records (optional)
Shopify recommends that you make a copy of any custom DNS records you want to keep, as these will be reset during the transfer process. This is helpful, for example, if you use a platform like Google Workspace to send or receive emails.
If you registered your domain through Squarespace, you can access these by going to your Squarespace dashboard, clicking the DOMAINS button, and selecting VIEW DNS SETTINGS.
If you registered your domain through a third-party provider, you will need to access your DNS records through that provider.
Step 3: Transfer your Squarespace domain to Shopify
Before you carry out this part of the process, remember that transferring your domain is permanent.
If you transfer your Squarespace domain to Shopify and change your mind, you can’t cancel.
Log in to your Shopify account and select Settings. Then click Domains.
Select Connect existing domain.
Enter the domain name you want to transfer and enter the authorization code when asked.
Click Verify domain, and review the contact information provided.
Shopify will send you an email—follow the instructions in the email to complete the process.
Domain transfers can take between 48 hours and 20 days, and your old site will continue working during this time.
