How to transfer a domain from Squarespace to Wix in three easy steps
Step 1: Get your request transfer code
Start by logging into your Squarespace dashboard. Go to the domain you wish to transfer and click the DOMAINS button.
You should see the options shown above. If not, you don’t have permission to transfer your domain.
Make sure the DOMAIN LOCK toggle is off. If you can’t untoggle this setting, it means you can’t transfer your domain at this moment in time. For example, when you change your domain registration data, you may not be able to transfer your domain for 60 days.
Click Request Transfer Code—you may need to enter your password or reauthenticate your account if you have two-factor authentication enabled. Click OK.
Squarespace will send an email with a transfer code to the email address associated with your domain. If you don’t get it within 24 hours, check your spam folder.
Step 2: Initiate the transfer on Wix
To do this, you need a Wix account and to be logged into your Squarespace account. Go to Domains and click Add an Existing Domain.
Select Transfer your domain to Wix, read the information, and click Start Transfer.
Follow the instructions and paste your transfer code under Enter Authorisation Code.
Step 3: Finalise the transfer
Check and confirm your contact information and select whether you want your contact details to appear in the WHOIS information records.
Select your payment method and click Submit Purchase.
You’ll receive an email advising that the transfer has been initiated. It may take up to seven days for your domain to transfer over to Wix.
